Doge Owner Distances Herself From CATE Tokens

Atsuko Sato, the owner of Kabosu, the Shiba Inu dog that inspired Dogecoin, has stated that she has no connection with the CATE token projects circulating in the cryptocurrency market.

Sato said a post she made on her Instagram account was used without her permission, and that fake tokens were launched using this content, falsely portraying her as being associated with them. She also expressed regret that some accounts with high follower counts on X contributed to spreading the misleading posts.

Own The Doge: The Only Authorised Project

Sato stated that Own The Doge is the only project she has officially authorised to manage the intellectual property rights around the Doge image. She urged the community to trust only official announcements from her and the organisation.

Own The Doge was built after securing the rights to the original Doge meme photo in 2021, giving it a formal IP foundation. The organisation handles licensed projects with Sato's approval and supports animal welfare through charitable initiatives.

A Pattern of Unauthorised Tokens

The warning is not the first time Sato's image and name have been used to lend credibility to unofficial crypto projects. Kabosu was a Shiba Inu from Japan, adopted by kindergarten teacher Atsuko Sato, and is prominently featured in the original Doge meme and the $DOGE cryptocurrency. The cultural weight of that legacy has repeatedly made both Sato and the Doge image attractive targets for teams looking to launch tokens without formal authorisation.

Sato's public statement is a direct reminder that any project not backed by Own The Doge does not carry her endorsement, regardless of how it is promoted on social media.
