First Tokenized Fund Live on XRPL

Aviva Investors, the asset management arm of UK insurer Aviva plc, has launched a tokenized share class of its US Dollar Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger. The move is the first tokenization of an Aviva fund and the first live product to emerge from the firm's partnership with @Ripple, which was announced in February 2026.

The launch also marks the first tokenized fund structure approved by the Central Bank of Ireland. Aviva says this regulatory clearance sets a precedent for other asset managers looking to bring regulated, blockchain-based fund structures to market inside the European framework.

Eligible investors with digital wallets gain access to the same investment objective, risk profile, and regulatory protections as the conventional fund. The fund targets low-risk returns and daily liquidity through exposure to high-grade US dollar-denominated short-term debt instruments. All assets are held by Bank of New York Mellon (@BNYglobal).

Infrastructure and Broader Context

Komainu provided regulated institutional digital asset custody and Licuido supplied the tokenization infrastructure for the launch. The combination of a regulated custodian and a dedicated tokenization layer was designed to meet the standards required for institutional-grade distribution.

Aviva Investors, the asset management arm of British insurer Aviva plc, used the XRP Ledger's infrastructure to convert conventional fund products into digital tokens. The manager oversees £246 billion in total assets. The collaboration is Ripple's first with an investment management business based in Europe, building upon the firm's significant experience working with financial institutions in other regions.

Major firms including BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, and Hamilton Lane have already introduced tokenized products, signaling a shift from pilot projects to live, regulated offerings aimed at institutional investors. Aviva's launch adds further weight to that trend, particularly given the Central Bank of Ireland's sign-off, which gives other European managers a working regulatory template to reference.

Aviva Investors CEO Mark Versey said tokenization is a significant development for the investment industry and that the partnership with Ripple was crucial to bringing the product to market.
