@BNBCHAIN has emerged as the dominant network for on-chain AI agent registrations, accounting for roughly 62% of all agents tracked by @8004_scan, the multichain explorer dedicated to the ERC-8004 standard.

According to the explorer's dashboard, BNB Chain's count stands at 289,765 agents registered under ERC-8004, the standard enabling autonomous agents to obtain decentralized identities, out of a global total of approximately 468,600 spread across 27 supported networks. Over half of the roughly 109,000 new registrations recorded in the past month landed on BNB Chain, underscoring how quickly its share of the agent economy is widening.

What ERC-8004 Does

ERC-8004 is an on-chain identity standard designed to give autonomous AI agents verifiable, portable identity across platforms. Under ERC-8004, an agent is no longer confined to one application or forced to restart its reputation every time it enters a new environment. Instead, it can maintain persistent identity as it moves across platforms, enabling other agents, services, and users to verify its legitimacy.

The standard was proposed by contributors from the Ethereum Foundation, MetaMask, Google, and Coinbase, and introduces three core registries that record agent identities, reputations, and validation data on-chain. BNB Chain announced its support for the standard in early 2026 and confirmed that the ERC-8004 infrastructure is live on the BNB Smart Chain mainnet and testnet.

Registration Volume Versus Engagement

The numbers highlight an important split between registration volume and active engagement. While BNB Chain leads on raw agent counts, its feedback records sit at around 11,700 compared to approximately 441,700 on Base. That gap suggests that Base, despite hosting far fewer registered agents, is currently the more active environment for agent interactions and reputation-building.

8004scan is a web application that lets developers, builders, data scientists, and observers explore AI agents built on the ERC-8004 protocol, giving visibility into the agent layer of the blockchain economy. It is often referred to within the community as "Etherscan for AI Agents," pioneering the visualization of agent registration information, invocation events, and validation records.

The divergence between registration scale and feedback activity points to a maturing dynamic in the on-chain agent economy: the chains drawing the most builders are not always the same ones generating the most measurable agent-to-user engagement, at least not yet.
