Kaspa comes close to a $1 billion market cap after a 17% day
Kaspa's KAS token surged 17% in a single day and roughly 30% on the week, pushing its market cap to nearly $1 billion as trading volume spiked almost 500%.
KAS Surges Toward a Milestone
Kaspa's native token $KAS is knocking on the door of a landmark valuation. The token was trading at around $0.036 with a 24-hour gain of roughly 17.80%, while 24-hour trading volume reached approximately $50.4 million. On a weekly basis, the move is even more striking, with KAS up around 30% and volume rising close to 500% on the day, reflecting a sharp pickup in market interest.
The live market cap at the time of writing stands just above $1 billion, placing Kaspa at rank #60 on CoinMarketCap. That figure edges the project into a tier occupied by more established layer-1 networks, and traders are watching closely to see whether the level can hold.
Supply Structure Keeps Dilution Risk Low
One factor supporting the valuation is how far along Kaspa is in its emission schedule. There are currently around 27.68 billion KAS coins in circulation out of a hard cap of 28.7 billion, meaning the vast majority of supply is already on the market. The fully diluted valuation sits at approximately $1.03 billion, keeping it close to the spot market cap and limiting the dilution overhang that often weighs on newer projects.
Kaspa launched with no ICO, no premine, and no special insider allocation. KAS is issued solely through mining, with a maximum supply of approximately 28.7 billion tokens. Unlike Bitcoin, which cuts block rewards sharply every four years, Kaspa uses a smoother monthly reduction schedule where rewards decrease by a factor of (1/2)^(1/12) each month, resulting in an effective annual halving while maintaining consistent miner incentives.
Kaspa's network fundamentals have also been bolstered by its Toccata hard fork, which introduced smart contract functionality and KRC-20 token support, extending the project's reach beyond pure proof-of-work mining. Whether the price rally reflects genuine re-rating of those fundamentals or is largely momentum-driven remains the key question for investors tracking the asset.
