Kraken's xStocks holders are getting proxy voting rights
Broadridge is extending its governance platform to Kraken's xStocks tokenized equities framework, giving eligible holders proxy voting rights via ProxyVote.com through Web3 authentication.
@krakenfx parent @Payward is closing one of the most persistent gaps in tokenized equities: shareholder voting rights. @Broadridge has announced that its unified governance platform will support shareholder communications and proxy voting for eligible holders of @xStocksFi, the tokenized equities framework developed by Payward Services.
Under the arrangement, eligible holders of supported tokenized securities will securely authenticate to ProxyVote.com using Web3 authentication, review proxy materials for the underlying securities, and submit their proxy voting preferences through a seamless digital experience.
Closing the Shareholder Rights Gap
The absence of voting rights has long been one of the clearest structural shortcomings of tokenized stocks. Most existing products offer price exposure and little else, leaving holders outside the governance process entirely. Broadridge's integration is designed to address that directly.
The experience brings established trusted governance capabilities investors expect from traditional capital markets into blockchain-native ecosystems, while preserving the accessibility and efficiency of tokenized assets. Key capabilities include digital delivery of proxy materials and shareholder communications, a consistent governance experience across traditional securities and all major tokenization models, and institutional-grade governance, reporting and auditability built on Broadridge's trusted proxy infrastructure.
As Payward's Chief Commercial Officer and Global Head of Payward Services Mark Greenberg put it, "The endgame for tokenization was never just building faster programmable capital markets. It's about giving people across the world everything that comes with owning a piece of a company, including a voice in how it's run."
xStocks Scales Ahead of International Rollout
Since launching, xStocks has grown to more than 500 tokenized assets across equities, ETFs and IPOs, with over $37 billion in cumulative transaction volume and close to 200,000 holders. According to data from RWA.xyz, there is roughly $1.94 billion worth of tokenized equities in existence, and xStocks accounts for $515 million of that, making it the second-largest provider behind Ondo.
The tokens already trade across more than 100 exchanges, wallets and DeFi applications, and OKX launched its own tokenized stock offering built on the xStocks framework on July 16, extending the product beyond Kraken's own platform. International expansion is also underway: the rollout will begin with equities listed in Hong Kong before extending to the United Kingdom, Europe, and South Korea.
The addition of proxy voting strengthens the case for xStocks as a credible alternative to traditional brokerage accounts, particularly for international retail investors who currently hold tokenized equities with limited rights attached.
