MoneyGram to bridge fiat and onchain money flows on Circle's Arc network
MoneyGram has joined Circle's Arc network as a founding validator, alongside BlackRock, Visa, Mastercard and DTCC, ahead of Arc's public mainnet launch on September 16, 2026.
@MoneyGram is set to bridge fiat and onchain money flows on @arc, the layer-1 blockchain built by $USDC issuer @circle, the network confirmed on Monday. The remittance giant joins an institutional validator cohort that reads like a roll call of global finance.
A Who's Who of Founding Validators
Circle announced Arc's founding validator cohort, describing it as "a new model for onchain infrastructure" in which the institutions building on the network are also the ones securing it. Alongside Circle, the cohort includes BlackRock, DTCC, Galaxy, Global Payments, ICE, Mastercard, MoneyGram, SBI Group, Standard Chartered, Sumitomo Corporation, and Visa.
MoneyGram Chairman and CEO Anthony Soohoo said Arc "reflects where the industry is heading: trusted, compliant, and unified infrastructure that makes stablecoins practical for real-world payments."
Beyond validating the network, several institutions are also exploring deeper integrations. BlackRock is expected to deploy its BUIDL tokenized money market fund on Arc, while DTCC plans to enable the tokenization of DTC-custodied assets on the network.
What Arc Is, and What Comes Next
Arc is an open layer-1 blockchain purpose-built for stablecoin finance, designed to deliver enterprise-grade performance onchain. The network offers predictable fees payable in $USDC, sub-second transaction finality, and infrastructure spanning FX, tokenized assets, stablecoin payments, and agentic economic activity.
Arc is currently in private mainnet with more than 100 ecosystem and institutional builders and is on track for a public mainnet launch on September 16, 2026. By May 2026, the Arc testnet had already handled approximately 244 million transactions, with an average settlement time of just under half a second.
For MoneyGram, the move is a natural extension of its cross-border remittance business into onchain infrastructure. As stablecoin-native settlement networks mature, traditional money transfer operators face growing pressure to position themselves on the rails that institutional finance is building around.
