NEAR Protocol & Arbitrum are the hottest assets right now
NEAR Protocol's $NEAR and Arbitrum's $ARB have surged more than 70% in seven days, signalling a broad rotation of capital into high-utility Layer-1 and Layer-2 infrastructure.
@NEARProtocol's $NEAR and @Arbitrum's $ARB have emerged as two of the best-performing digital assets of the past week, each posting gains of more than 70% over seven days. The moves stand out even against a broadly recovering crypto market, pointing to something more deliberate than a simple tide lifting all boats.
Real Activity Behind the Rally
For Arbitrum, the fundamental backdrop is unusually concrete. The network processed 478 million transactions in the first half of 2026, bringing its all-time total to 2.7 billion, while DAO revenue reached $6.19 million and the protocol's gross revenue margin exceeded 97%. A key driver has been the launch of Robinhood Chain, which runs on Arbitrum's technology stack. The Robinhood Chain set records on August 30 and 31, registering $989 million in DEX volume and $2.66 million in daily app revenue. Under Arbitrum's Expansion Program, chains that settle outside Arbitrum One return 10% of net protocol revenue to the Arbitrum ecosystem, and Robinhood Chain, which went live on mainnet on 1 July 2026, contributes under that programme.
The price action reflects that activity. The ARB rally is not driven solely by speculative dynamics: over the past month, the token rose 168% from the $0.075 level recorded in mid-August. Standard Chartered recently published a bullish projection with a price target of at least $0.50 for Arbitrum toward the end of 2026, estimating returns above those of BTC and ETH.
NEAR Protocol's advance tells a parallel story. NEAR is widely regarded as the standout AI-blockchain convergence story of 2026, with app revenue growth of 190% year-over-year, leading all ecosystems. Its intent-based transaction architecture and AI tooling have kept developer interest unusually high, with NEAR investing in interoperability through intent architecture as a core growth driver.
Capital Rotating Into Infrastructure
The simultaneous surge in both tokens illustrates a broader theme: capital is moving with purpose into Layer-1 and Layer-2 networks where genuine development activity is already underway, rather than chasing narratives with thin on-chain footprints. The Arbitrum ecosystem had more than 100 chains live or in development by the end of 2025, with over 1,000 projects powered by the network, making it a top-three chain by number of protocols. NEAR, meanwhile, continues to attract builders focused on AI-native applications and cross-chain interoperability.
Whether either token can hold these levels will depend on whether on-chain activity stays elevated. For Arbitrum, the end of Robinhood Chain's 90-day gas subsidy, expected in late September, is a near-term variable: if fees on Robinhood Chain fall sharply once the subsidy is removed, the main narrative behind the ARB rally could fade. For NEAR, the question is whether its AI positioning translates into durable user and revenue growth beyond the current momentum.
