@ponsdotfamily's $PONS token has posted one of the more eye-catching moves in crypto recently, surging more than 2,000% over the past 30 days as its underlying platform tightens its grip on Robinhood's new blockchain.

The Launchpad Behind the Move

$PONS is the token behind Pons, Robinhood Chain's biggest memecoin factory, a launchpad that lets anyone create and trade a token without writing a single line of code. It serves as the native governance and utility token for the non-custodial launchpad built on Robinhood Chain. The platform's model is straightforward: a share of trading fees is used to automatically buy back and burn $PONS tokens, creating a deflationary mechanism tied directly to platform usage.

Robinhood Chain launched its public mainnet on July 1, 2026, announced at a London event. The chain is an Arbitrum-based Ethereum Layer-2 network built to support tokenized stock trading, DeFi yield products, and AI-powered autonomous trading across more than 120 countries. Pons moved quickly to fill the activity vacuum. It went live within days of Robinhood Chain's mainnet, absorbing most of the early launchpad activity after a rival called Noxa abruptly stopped accepting new launches on July 11.

Dominant by Every Metric

Within weeks, close to one in every ten transactions on the entire chain was coming out of Pons, with 922,540 of 9,559,806 transactions in a single 24-hour window carrying a Pons launch or bonding-curve trade. By early September, the platform had posted a $500 million single-day volume record with roughly $4 billion in cumulative trades.

Binance Wallet added $PONS to its Alpha trading tier on September 2, and the token pushed to fresh highs the following day. Pons posted $5.95 million in daily fees on September 3, enough to rank fourth among all crypto protocols tracked by DefiLlama and briefly out-earn Robinhood Chain itself that day. The token's market cap has climbed to nearly $600 million on the back of that momentum, with community sentiment remaining bullish.

It is worth noting that Pons is not an official Robinhood product. It is a separate, non-custodial protocol built by Pons Labs, LLC that chose to deploy on the chain. Pons currently holds a powerful position on Robinhood Chain, but low barriers to token creation mean rival launchpads can compete through different fee structures and launch mechanics. In early August, Uniswap launched its own launchpad, Pools.trade, charging zero fees and quickly capturing half of all launchpad volume, a development that briefly rattled $PONS before the buyback mechanism helped stabilise sentiment.
