Pumpfun BOOST Drives Sharp Jump In Token Graduations

Pumpfun's new BOOST mechanism pushed its token graduation rate to 6.7% last Friday, roughly eight times the June average, while reinjecting over $7 million into the ecosystem and lifting $PUMP nearly 28% over the past month.

Pumpfun's new BOOST feature has delivered an immediate and measurable lift to the platform's core activity metric. The token graduation rate climbed to 6.7% last Friday, the day BOOST went live, approximately eight times higher than the platform's average throughout June, according to The Block.

How BOOST Works

BOOST targets what Pumpfun calls "dead liquidity." Previously, when a memecoin graduated from Pumpfun's bonding curve, approximately 20% of the migration liquidity remained permanently locked inside the newly created PumpSwap liquidity pool. Even if every token holder sold their position, that capital could never be withdrawn or redeployed.

BOOST mode is now the default launch mechanism for every newly migrated token. It automatically reinjects that locked liquidity through automatic buybacks and burns over a five-minute period immediately after a token migrates. Once the purchases are completed, every token acquired through BOOST is permanently burned, removing it from circulation. The result is a combination of temporary buying pressure and a lower token supply, achieved without introducing any new liquidity or external funding.

The feature became the default for all eligible new tokens on July 21. Pumpfun says more than $100 million in liquidity is lost to this dead-liquidity problem every year. Pumpfun co-founder Alon described the update as adding approximately 20% liquidity for each newly migrated token. Importantly, BOOST buys and burns the newly migrated memecoin, not Pumpfun's own platform token ($PUMP), so the capital directly impacts the specific token undergoing migration.

Market Impact and $PUMP Performance

The new mechanics appear to be encouraging stronger bidding activity ahead of token migration. The Pumpfun Ecosystem team noted that over $7 million has been reinjected into the trenches since BOOST launched. $PUMP is up nearly 28% over the past month.

One nuance flagged by The Block is that BOOST comes into effect after a token has already bonded, so it does not mechanically lift the share of tokens that reach the bonding threshold. Instead, it directly incentivizes traders to bid bonding tokens harder, because an immediate post-migration liquidity injection and supply burn are guaranteed upon migration. The sharp single-day jump in the graduation rate points to a broader shift in trader behaviour under the new incentive structure.

Pumpfun has become the dominant memecoin launchpad on Solana and has repeatedly updated how newly launched tokens handle liquidity. BOOST is its most significant structural change to the migration process to date.
