RedStone brings Ondo's USDY price feed to Stellar DEFI
Oracle provider RedStone has launched a USDY/USD price feed on Stellar with SEP-40 contract support, letting DeFi protocols use Ondo's Treasury-backed yield token as collateral.
A New Price Feed for Stellar's Growing RWA Ecosystem
Oracle provider @redstone_defi has launched a USDY/USD price feed on @StellarOrg, backed by SEP-40 contract support. The integration means protocols building on Stellar can now tap Ondo's yield-bearing, Treasury-backed token as collateral through a standardized data interface, without the need for custom oracle adapters.
Ondo's USDY is a permissionless yield-bearing token secured by short-term U.S. Treasuries and bank demand deposits. It is described as the world's first freely transferable yield-bearing token secured by U.S. Treasuries, accruing yield daily whether holders are staking, borrowing, pledging, or simply holding it. @Ondo framed the integration as an effort to build "more productive onchain dollars," opening the door for the token to be put to work across Stellar's DeFi ecosystem.
Why SEP-40 Matters for Stellar Protocols
Stellar's Soroban cross-contract call model makes non-standard oracle integrations expensive: every custom adapter adds gas costs and complexity to each protocol that uses it, and without a shared interface, every new oracle integration requires custom work on both sides. SEP-40 addresses this with a unified interface that determines how the network's apps consume price data, independently of the provider used.
A protocol using SEP-40-compliant data can switch oracle providers without changing its own logic, making the ecosystem more composable and reducing long-term integration overhead for developers.
The USDY feed is part of a broader push by @redstone_defi on Stellar. RedStone has implemented the SEP-40 oracle standard and is delivering high-frequency price feeds for nine live RWA assets, spanning stablecoins, sovereign debt, and Bitcoin products. Stellar's tokenized asset market has now passed $2 billion.
For Stellar's DeFi layer, the addition of a reliable USDY price feed removes a key friction point. Stellar has long had a strong case for institutional issuance of real-world assets, but what was missing was the DeFi infrastructure needed to turn that issuance into active, liquid markets that institutional capital can actually use. A standardized oracle feed for a token like USDY is a step toward closing that gap.
