SharpLink Plans To Turn $200M ETH Into Staking Yield
SharpLink (Nasdaq: SBET) will stake $200 million in Ethereum through Lido Finance, receiving wstETH held in custody by Anchorage Digital as it works to make its ETH treasury more productive.
SharpLink Adds Lido to Its ETH Treasury Strategy
SharpLink (Nasdaq: SBET), the Nasdaq-listed Ethereum treasury company, has announced it will stake $200 million worth of $ETH through Lido Finance, the largest liquid staking protocol on Ethereum. The move is part of the firm's ongoing push to generate returns from its substantial ETH holdings rather than leaving them idle.
SharpLink will receive wrapped staked ETH (wstETH), a token representing staked ETH and its associated staking rewards, to be held in custody with Anchorage Digital. The allocation equals roughly 106,000 ETH, about 12% of the company's 888,938 ETH holdings reported as of August 3.
The allocation continues SharpLink's effort this year to make its ETH treasury maximally productive for shareholders and adds Lido to its existing staking and restaking strategy. CEO Joseph Chalom explained the rationale: "This is an exciting expansion in making our ETH even more productive, leveraging wstETH's composability while maintaining institutional-grade risk standards. Adding a staking protocol of Lido's caliber deepens the diversification of our treasury strategy and gives us access to one of the most liquid and widely integrated assets in Ethereum DeFi."
Why Lido and Why wstETH
Lido accounts for a majority of all liquid staked ETH, with roughly $16.5 billion of ETH staked through the protocol. Its wstETH token is integrated across more than 100 protocols, with roughly $10 billion in active use as collateral.
The allocation adds Lido to SharpLink's existing staking and restaking strategy and allows the company to maintain exposure to ETH staking rewards while retaining access to wstETH across decentralized finance applications. By staking through Lido, SharpLink avoids the operational complexities of running its own validators and retains liquidity through the liquid staking token.
SharpLink reported staking revenue in Q2 2026 but also booked a $76.1 million noncash impairment on its LsETH and weETH holdings. The Lido allocation broadens the company's staking mix and gives it access to one of the most composable assets in decentralized finance.
