All the OG memecoins, including SHIB, are awake!

The memecoin market is firmly back in focus. Following a broad rally on August 19, the sector's most recognisable tokens are posting meaningful gains, with @ShibainuCoin's $SHIB, @dogecoin's $DOGE, and @pepecoineth's $PEPE all climbing sharply over the past 24 hours.

PEPE Takes the Lead Among OG Memecoins

Of the three, $PEPE has been the standout performer, surging more than 19% in 24 hours. $DOGE and $SHIB have also posted solid gains, though neither has matched $PEPE's move. The broader memecoin market has shown similar strength, with sector-wide trading volumes rising alongside prices. Recent market activity has shown continued whale interest in PEPE, and analysts note that improving risk appetite or increased Ethereum meme-sector volume can quickly attract capital back into the token.

It is worth noting that PEPE has no fundamental utility or project-specific revenue engine. Solana Memecoins Also Skyrocketing

Beyond the Ethereum-based OGs, @Solana's memecoin ecosystem is also seeing strong momentum. Trading volumes are rising across the board, and Solana-based memecoins are once again flooding crypto timelines, with the network continuing to serve as the main hub for meme token launches thanks to its low fees, fast transaction speeds, and simple launch tools like Pump.fun.

Solana keeps leading the meme coin race, with names such as Bonk, dogwifhat, and Pudgy Penguins among the ecosystem's prominent tokens. Solana remains the centre of the broader 2026 memecoin rally, powered by Pump.fun and tokens like BONK and WIF.

As with any memecoin cycle, the gains are sharp but the risks are real. Profits tend to remain concentrated among a relatively small group of traders with better timing or earlier access, while volatility, fees, and emotional trading make consistent gains extremely difficult for most participants.
