GSR Expands Regulated Footprint for the Onchain Future of Finance

New registrations advance GSR’s strategy to bridge traditional and onchain capital markets

GSR, crypto’s capital markets partner, today announced the registration of two Cayman Islands entities under the Securities Investment Business Act (SIBA), expanding the firm’s ability to serve clients as traditional financial markets increasingly move onchain.

The registrations of GSR Markets Cayman Limited and GSR Capital (Cayman) Limited with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) represent another step in GSR’s expansion into global securities markets and its strategy to connect traditional and onchain capital markets. The registrations build on GSR’s growing presence in the Cayman Islands, including its acquisition of Autonomous, a George Town-based company specializing in crypto foundation formation, governance design, and treasury management for digital asset projects.

The registrations also follow GSR’s completion in June of its acquisition of an SEC-registered broker-dealer, now operating as GSR Securities, LLC, which supports capital raising for issuers and fund managers in digital asset markets. The authorizations are separate, and neither confers permissions in the other’s jurisdiction.

GSR has spent more than a decade operating at the forefront of crypto markets while building a regulatory and trading platform designed for institutional counterparties. As tokenization brings equities and other traditional assets onto blockchain infrastructure, GSR’s experience in providing liquidity, risk management, and market structure can be applied across an increasingly interconnected financial system.

GSR Markets Cayman Limited is registered to deal in and arrange deals in securities in and from the Cayman Islands. The registration expands GSR’s ability to provide trading, liquidity, and execution services across traditional and onchain financial markets.

As financial assets increasingly move onchain, issuers and investors may seek access to liquidity across both traditional venues and crypto-native platforms. GSR is building the capabilities to support that convergence within established regulatory frameworks.

GSR Capital (Cayman) Limited is registered to conduct asset management business from the Cayman Islands and will serve as an investment manager for GSR’s Cayman asset management business.
