FCC reuses Flare's existing oracle provider set
Flare Confidential Compute goes live on Coston2 testnet, using the existing FTSO and FDC provider set to power hardware-isolated enclaves and cross-chain transaction signing. No mainnet date has been confirmed.
@FlareNetworks has launched Flare Confidential Compute (FCC) on the Coston2 testnet, with a rollout to Songbird scheduled as the next step. The deployment is notable for how it is structured: rather than introducing a separate operator set, FCC inherits the existing signing policy and weighted provider infrastructure that already underpins the Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO) and the Flare Data Connector (FDC).
How FCC Uses the Existing Provider Set
According to Flare's developer hub, FCC extends the Flare blockchain with Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) to enable secure off-chain computation, cross-chain transaction signing, and fast data attestation. The code runs inside hardware-isolated enclaves, and operators cannot inspect the instructions being processed inside them. Data providers and cosigners function as instruction relayers, parsing instruction events from smart contracts, augmenting them with external data, signing them, and transmitting them to TEE machines.
Because FCC draws on the same provider set that powers FTSO and FDC, it does not require a new trust layer to be bootstrapped from scratch. FTSO is Flare's native oracle, built directly into the network's core protocol, delivering price feeds backed by around 100 independent data providers selected through delegated stake. FDC, meanwhile, handles cross-chain verification. FCC sits on top of both, using their combined economic security.
One of the key capabilities unlocked by this architecture is Protocol Managed Wallets (PMW). PMW enables programmable assembly and signing of transactions on external blockchains, including XRPL and Bitcoin, through smart contract calls on Flare. That means enclaves running inside FCC can sign transactions on third-party chains without exposing private keys to any operator.
Pre-Production Status, No Mainnet Date
Flare's developer hub states that FCC is in the final stages of development and is not yet a fully public production system. No mainnet launch date has been announced. Developers can already begin building Flare Compute Extensions (FCE) using the available getting-started guides, but the system remains in a pre-production phase.
The range of use cases FCC is designed to support is broad. The infrastructure supports transaction types including swaps, lending, borrowing, staking, cross-chain transfers, and large order execution, as well as dark pools and sealed-bid auctions that are difficult to implement on fully transparent public ledgers.
For now, the Coston2 testnet deployment gives developers a live environment to test confidential compute applications ahead of any broader release.
