Record Network Activity Puts ICP Among the Most Active Blockchains

July was a landmark month for Internet Computer ($ICP). @PierreSamaties highlighted that @Dfinity's network processed 133 million transactions per day during the month, securing its position as the second-most-active blockchain globally. That figure builds on a broader trend: Crypto News Navigator reported the network had already hit one billion transactions in a single quarter during Q1 2026, supported by roughly 980,000 deployed canister smart contracts and 1.24 million active wallets.

The throughput milestone is notable in context. As the Internet Computer's own documentation notes, ICP transactions tend to be computationally richer than those on most other chains, meaning raw transaction counts can understate the actual work being done on the network.

MCP Beta, AI Integration, and MULTI/DEX Stress Test

Beyond raw throughput, the month brought a string of product milestones. The launch of the $ICP MCP beta introduced a direct interface between AI agents and ICP canisters. According to TradingView, the server supports canister discovery, Internet Identity resolution, on-chain queries, method calls, and canister management, allowing agent-driven workflows to execute operations without separate custom integrations at each step. In practice, the integration allows Anthropic's Claude to carry out on-chain operations and gaming via @X2worldtech without human intervention.

On the infrastructure side, @Caffeineai entered both the AWS Marketplace and the Claude MCP directory during July, expanding the reach of ICP-native tooling to developers working within mainstream cloud and AI environments.

Rounding out the month, MULTI/DEX posted a simulated volume of $243 million within a 24-hour stress test. CoinMarketCap's Internet Computer tracker noted the platform entered public stress-testing in early July with the aim of matching the performance levels of centralized exchanges.

Taken together, July's updates reflect a network pushing simultaneously on throughput, AI agent infrastructure, and DeFi capacity, three areas that will likely define competitive positioning for Layer-1 blockchains over the coming year.
