@NEARProtocol's NEAR Intents protocol is putting up numbers that are hard to ignore. Cumulative DEX volume on the platform has reached $29.5 billion, with $1.04 billion processed in the past seven days alone, according to DefiLlama data. The protocol also recorded a single-day high of $300 million on Thursday.

No Bridges, No Wrapped Tokens

The mechanics behind those figures are straightforward, at least from the user's perspective. NEAR Intents is a multichain transaction protocol where users specify what they want and let third parties compete to provide the best solution. A user wanting native $BTC in exchange for $SOL, for example, simply states that outcome. A short bidding window of roughly one second opens, and every connected solver evaluates whether it can fulfill the trade and responds with a competing quote. Solvers do not draw from on-chain liquidity pools. Instead, they source liquidity from wherever it is cheapest, including centralized exchange order books, OTC desks, other DEXs, and cross-chain arbitrage paths. No bridge or wrapped token is involved at any stage.

NEAR Intents has no pools of its own. Solvers bring the liquidity, which means they can access sources that traditional AMMs cannot, including centralized exchange order books, OTC desks, and cross-DEX arbitrage. The protocol supports more than 31 blockchains. Users express a desired swap as an intent, solvers compete to fill it at the best price using both DeFi and CeFi liquidity, and the trade settles atomically through a Verifier smart contract on NEAR. The entire process typically completes in under one minute.

A Protocol Built on Momentum

The growth trajectory behind the $29.5 billion figure has been steep. NEAR Intents hit $5 billion in cumulative volume in November 2025. By January 2026, it had doubled that to $10 billion. The platform has continued to accelerate from there, with the latest weekly volume figures underscoring the pace of adoption.

Since February 2026, NEAR's captured Intents revenue has been used to buy back $NEAR on the open market, returning value to holders. The protocol charges a base fee of just 1 basis point (0.01%), making it highly competitive against traditional cross-chain alternatives.

The solver model also lends itself to use cases beyond manual trading. The intent model is well-suited to AI-driven execution. An autonomous agent can sign and broadcast intents without managing gas, bridge approvals, or transaction sequencing across chains, as the solver network handles routing. That positions NEAR Intents as infrastructure for both retail DeFi users and the growing market of autonomous on-chain agents.
