Fresh All-time High After Aster Perpetuals Debut

BNB Chain's Niu Lai memecoin hit an all-time high of $0.1388 on Aug. 31, extending a rally that has now taken the token up roughly 30% in the past 24 hours and around 600% over the past 14 days. The immediate catalyst was its listing on the Aster perpetual contracts market. On Aug. 30, on-chain tracker Lookonchain reported that Niu Lai surged more than 510% after being listed on Aster DEX perpetuals. The tracker noted that one trader opened a 5x long position worth about $111,000 and was showing a $49,500 unrealized profit.

According to CoinGecko, the token now carries a market capitalization of approximately $113.8 million. Its fully diluted valuation sits at the same level, reflecting a fixed supply of 1 billion tokens in circulation. Niu Lai operates as a BNB Chain memecoin, with its price driven mainly by market attention, speculative demand, and on-chain liquidity rather than by a protocol, staking system, or revenue-generating product.

The Viral Film Behind the Token

Niu Lai started as a small passion project built over five years by Xin Yumeng and his mother, who handled almost everything themselves. Initially seen by almost no one, its bizarre homemade 3D animation eventually caught the internet's attention, turning the low-budget film into an unexpected viral sensation.

The film was made on a budget of roughly $200, features a bizarre, dreamlike plot, and production values that would look rough for a Nintendo 64 game. On apps like movie-review platform Douban and microblogging site Weibo, clips and reviews of Niu Lai went viral, spreading word of the film's so-bad-it's-good appeal to a largely young, Gen Z audience of Chinese filmgoers. The film's title also functions as a pun in Chinese, sounding like "the bull market comes," which added a layer of speculative appeal for crypto traders.

There is no verified official connection between the token and the film's creators. Niu Lai is therefore best characterised as a culture-driven BNB Chain memecoin rather than an official digital asset associated with the film. As with all memecoins, price moves of this magnitude carry significant downside risk and the rally may not be sustained.
