Burn Page Returns Error as Data Goes Missing

The official burn tracking page on Shibarium is currently failing to load, leaving $SHIB holders without visibility into one of the token's core deflationary mechanisms. The page, which is designed to display the number of Shiba Inu tokens sent to dead wallets, is returning a red "Failed to load burn information" message instead of live figures.

The contract address in question, ethereum:0x95ad61b0a150d79219dcf64e1e6cc01f0b64c4ce, tracks tokens permanently removed from circulation. It remains unclear whether the outage reflects a technical fault or a broader reporting change. The last available burn count on the page showed over 1 billion tokens destroyed in May 2025.

The absence of current data has raised concerns among investors and community members, as transparency around total tokens burned is considered fundamental for those tracking the project's progress.

How the Shibarium Burn Mechanism Works

Token burning sits at the centre of Shibarium's value proposition. Every transaction on Shibarium incurs fees in BONE, and a portion of those fees is converted to $SHIB and sent to burn addresses, automatically reducing the token's circulating supply. Specifically, 70% of the base fee accumulates in BONE until $25,000 worth is transferred to Ethereum's Layer 1 for conversion to SHIB and subsequent burning.

The Shiba Inu team later introduced ShibTorch to automate this process further. According to long-term Shiba Inu contributor Mazrael, the fee-based burn mechanism remains active and has helped burn hundreds of millions of SHIB over recent weeks, even though it draws relatively little attention from the community.

Despite the mechanism running in the background, the scale challenge is significant. Automated burns have not reached projected levels, and real-world activity in 2026 remains modest against early estimates of trillions of SHIB being burned annually at peak usage. Since inception, more than 410.84 trillion SHIB tokens have been burned, representing 41.08% of the initial supply, yet approximately 589.24 trillion tokens remain in circulation.

The data outage comes at a sensitive moment for the project. Whether it is a temporary technical glitch or something more structural, the community is watching closely given how central burn reporting is to sentiment around $SHIB.
