Strategy resumes buying Bitcoin
Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) has purchased 4,603 Bitcoin for $369.7 million, ending a 10-week buying pause and bringing its total treasury to 845,050 BTC.
Strategy Returns to Accumulation After 10-Week Pause
@Strategy has added 4,603 $BTC to its treasury for approximately $369.7 million, ending a 10-week hiatus from buying that had raised questions about whether the company's appetite for Bitcoin was cooling. The purchase covers the period between August 24 and 30. The company paid an average of $80,318 per Bitcoin for the latest tranche, while its cumulative average purchase price stood at $75,412.
The acquisition brings Strategy's total Bitcoin treasury to 845,050 BTC. Aggregate spending on its Bitcoin holdings has now reached $63.73 billion.
How the Purchase Was Funded
The acquisition was financed through Strategy's MSTR at-the-market offering. The company sold 4.53 million MSTR shares during the week, receiving $602.8 million in net proceeds. Strategy allocated $369.7 million of those proceeds to Bitcoin, $151.8 million to repurchase STRC preferred stock, $50.7 million to STRC dividend payments, and $30 million to its USD Cash liquidity account.
The 10-week buying gap traced back to a practical constraint rather than a philosophical one. Strategy's growing suite of preferred stock offerings comes with dividend obligations, and the roughly $432.5 million raised from Bitcoin sales since June covered those needs. With only $369.7 million of recent fundraising deployed so far, the company retains well over a billion dollars of dry powder earmarked for future Bitcoin purchases.
For 2026 as a whole, Strategy has acquired approximately 175,000 BTC while selling roughly 7,000, with the net addition of around 168,000 coins representing one of the most aggressive accumulation campaigns any single entity has conducted in the crypto market.
