Sui crossed 16 billion lifetime transactions
Sui Network has surpassed 16 billion lifetime transactions across nearly 230 million accounts, with the SuiVision explorer showing a peak throughput of 1,318 TPS and 126 active validators securing the network.
@SuiNetwork has passed a significant on-chain milestone, with the SuiVision explorer recording 16.17 billion lifetime transactions spread across 229.98 million accounts. The network marked the occasion with a vivid comparison: 16 billion seconds is roughly equivalent to 520 years of elapsed time.
Network Metrics at the Milestone
The same SuiVision dashboard shows a peak throughput of 1,318 transactions per second at the time of the announcement, with 126 validators participating in consensus and 6.98 billion $SUI staked natively to secure the network. Those figures reflect live mainnet conditions rather than controlled stress-test environments, making them a meaningful measure of real-world demand.
Sui's architecture is built around parallel transaction execution and an object-centric data model, which allows the network to process independent transactions simultaneously rather than sequentially. The Mysticeti consensus upgrade, shipped in 2024, cut consensus latency by roughly 80%, delivering finality near 390 milliseconds even at very high throughput. That infrastructure underpins the throughput figures showing up on the explorer today.
Broader Context for the Numbers
The 16 billion transaction count lands against a backdrop of rapid ecosystem expansion. Cumulative active addresses on Sui have passed 228 million, and DeFi total value locked peaked at $2.6 billion. More recently, TVL on Sui has nearly tripled, surging past the $5 billion threshold , driven in part by institutional capital flowing into tokenized real-world assets on the chain.
On the institutional side, Sui completed three years since its May 2023 mainnet launch, and CME Group listed SUI futures contracts, making Sui only the fourth Layer-1 blockchain to enter CME's regulated derivatives market, after Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.
The 16 billion milestone is one data point in what has been a consistent upward trend for the network. Whether the pace of adoption holds at current levels will depend on developer activity, broader market conditions, and how the protocol continues to evolve heading into its Basecamp event in October 2026.
