Travala integrated Amazon's AgentCore payments into its agentic travel booking tool
Travala has connected Amazon Web Services AgentCore payments to its Travel MCP, letting users book hotels through Claude AI using a Coinbase Agentic Wallet funded with USDC and no gas fees across 2.2 million properties.
@travalacom has added Amazon Web Services AgentCore payments to its agentic travel booking tool, deepening the connection between AI-driven commerce and on-chain payments infrastructure.
How the Booking Flow Works
According to @travalacom, travelers open its Travel MCP inside @claudeai, search for a hotel, and then approve a spending limit inside a @coinbase Agentic Wallet that AgentCore provisions automatically. The wallet is funded with $USDC, and the booking settles without gas fees. The protocol enables autonomous agents to search, book, and pay for over 2.2 million hotels, including Marriott, Hilton, and IHG, without human intervention until payment authorization.
@awscloud said wallet credentials stay isolated from AI runtime memory, with session guardrails enforcing spending limits throughout the process. Security is maintained using ERC-7715 session keys, which ensures that while an agent can request payments, final signing authority remains isolated within the user's secure wallet environment.
Built on Base With the x402 Protocol
The Travel MCP launched in June on @base. The Travala Travel MCP is built on the Base Layer 2 blockchain and uses the x402 protocol, described as a three-leg payment sequence that unites wallets, on-ramps, and settlement into a single flow. The infrastructure allows for gasless $USDC transactions on Base with near-instant settlement times and transaction costs of approximately $0.01 per booking.
For consumers, the technology powers an AI travel concierge that can plan, book, and manage trips through a single conversation within Claude, maintaining context across searches, bookings, and cancellations.
The AgentCore integration extends the platform's infrastructure story. The tool is built on Base, Coinbase's Layer 2 blockchain, in partnership with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore payments infrastructure. The total value of agentic commerce transactions is projected to reach $8 billion in 2026 before scaling to an estimated $3.5 trillion by 2031.
The company also said its native AVA token is expected to gain additional utility as adoption of the Travel MCP grows.
