World Liberty Financial Issues USD1 Stablecoin On Canton Network
World Liberty Financial has natively issued its USD1 stablecoin on the Canton Network, giving global financial institutions a fully reserved digital dollar built for atomic settlement alongside tokenized assets.
USD1 Goes Live on an Institutional-Grade Blockchain
@WorldLibertyFi has officially issued its $USD1 stablecoin natively on @CantonNetwork, targeting the growing demand from regulated financial institutions for a compliant digital dollar. USD1, the US dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by BitGo Bank and Trust, is now available on the Canton Network.
Built to institutional standards, USD1 is a fully reserved, 1:1 redeemable digital asset backed entirely by short-term US government treasuries, US dollar deposits, and other cash equivalents. Launched on Ethereum and BNB Chain in March 2025, USD1 had grown to a circulating supply near $4.5 billion by Q1 2026, making it the fastest-growing fiat-backed stablecoin of the period.
Why Canton, and Why It Matters for Institutions
Developed by Digital Asset, Canton is described as a network of networks, a modular blockchain ecosystem where financial institutions can operate independent but interoperable ledgers. The Canton Network was created to solve the longstanding problem of blockchain transparency, offering a public network that provides the privacy and control that institutions need without sacrificing the connectivity that makes a public blockchain valuable.
The stablecoin is natively issued on Canton and can be configured as a settlement option for institutions seeking to bring tokenised real-world assets onto the network. WLFI says that $USD1 can support collateralisation for derivatives and institutional lending, instant cross-border payments, 24/7 settlement, onchain asset issuance, and cross-market, cross-institution financing.
The firm intends for its stablecoin to give Canton participants a dollar-equivalent leg that settles atomically alongside the asset in situations where a real-world asset, such as sovereign debt, is subject to a slow settlement cycle.
Canton's participating entities already include DTCC, Euroclear, HSBC, Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas, Circle, and BNY, among others, underscoring the network's credibility as a venue for institutional digital asset activity. The native issuance of $USD1 on Canton positions it as a settlement currency within this ecosystem, directly alongside the tokenized assets those institutions are bringing onchain.
World Liberty Financial co-founder and CEO Zach Witkoff also confirmed the company has received preliminary conditional approval to establish a national trust bank, a development that could further underpin the regulatory credibility of $USD1 over time.
