XRP Traders Bet On a Rebound as Futures Positions Surge
XRP futures open interest has climbed to $2.75 billion on Coinglass data, with trading volume up 77% in 24 hours and long positions outnumbering shorts at nearly 3 to 1 on Binance as traders eye a rebound near the $1 support level.
Traders in the $XRP derivatives market are leaning heavily bullish, with a string of metrics pointing to renewed conviction around a potential price rebound.
Open Interest Climbs to $2.75 Billion
XRP futures open interest on exchanges has climbed to $2.75 billion, according to Coinglass data, as traders build up leveraged positions near a key price level. Coinglass data confirms the current open interest of XRP sits at approximately $2.74 billion. The figure marks a meaningful step up from recent weeks. A prior surge in open interest had already pushed XRP into the top tier of crypto derivatives activity, with open interest measuring the total value of outstanding futures contracts that have not been closed or settled.
Trading volume has reportedly increased 77% over the last 24 hours, as XRP trades near $1. The $1 level has become a focal point for the market. Various analysts have highlighted $1.00 as the pivotal support, with a sustained break lower potentially exposing the $0.97 Fibonacci zone.
Longs Overwhelm Shorts on Major Exchanges
The positioning data makes the bullish tilt clear. Long positions now outnumber shorts on major exchanges, with the long to short ratio standing near 3 to 1 on Binance and 3.58 to 1 on OKX. That kind of skew signals traders are betting on upside, though it also carries risk.
Heavy long positioning can create liquidation risk if prices slip, while heavy short exposure can fuel a rapid upside move if a squeeze occurs. In other words, the crowded long trade could amplify a move in either direction.
XRP has lost momentum after an impressive rally earlier this year, with selling pressure pushing the token below several key technical levels while weaker institutional demand added fresh uncertainty. Ripple continues to strengthen its business ecosystem through projects such as RLUSD and new exchange listings, which some traders may view as a longer-term support for the token's value.
Whether the surge in open interest translates into a sustained recovery or simply adds volatility will depend on whether buyers can defend the $1 floor and attract fresh spot demand to match the derivatives buildup.
