CORE price looks to have woken up... Maybe
CoreDAO's native CORE token has posted seven consecutive days of gains and a surge in DEX volume, but remains down nearly 20% over the past 30 days as the project pivots toward a Bitcoin DeFi revenue model.
A Short-Term Bounce, But a Longer Road Ahead
@Coredao_Org's native $CORE token is showing tentative signs of life. According to CoinGecko data, the token has traded in the green for the past seven consecutive days, a run not seen since a notable price surge in April, roughly three months ago. DEX volume on the network has also climbed over the same period, pointing to at least a modest uptick in on-chain activity.
The optimism, however, comes with clear caveats. $CORE remains down nearly 20% over the past 30 days, and the longer-term picture is more sobering still. The token hit an all-time low on July 27, 2026, and is currently trading more than 99% below its all-time high of $6.47, set in February 2023.
Tokenomics Shift and the BTCFi Pivot
CoreDAO is not standing still. The project's 2026 roadmap outlines a significant structural change to how value flows through the protocol. The protocol is moving away from burning a percentage of block rewards and fees. Instead, ecosystem revenue generated from Bitcoin DeFi activities, including staking yields and liquid staking tokens, will fund systematic $CORE token buybacks from the open market, aiming to create sustainable demand-side pressure on supply.
Central to that strategy is SatPay, a neobank-style product CoreDAO is building on top of its network. SatPay will integrate lending markets, DEXs, and other BTCFi applications directly into a single environment. Every deposit, loan, and yield strategy executed through SatPay is designed to reinforce $CORE demand through usage, staking, gas consumption, and recurring buyback pressure.
On the infrastructure side, Core's next series of upgrades in 2026 aim to push performance further, with the network on track to reach sub-second block-time finality. Core positions itself as a next-generation layer-one blockchain, employing a consensus mechanism called Satoshi Plus, designed to address the blockchain trilemma by combining security, scalability, and decentralization.
Whether the recent green candles represent a genuine trend reversal or a brief relief rally remains to be seen. The short-term price action is encouraging, but $CORE's recovery will ultimately depend on whether the team can execute on its Bitcoin DeFi thesis and generate the real network revenue needed to sustain its buyback commitments.
