Phantom has given Sui Network users a one-month window to act. The popular multichain wallet announced on August 24 that it will drop support for the Sui network on September 24, 2026, after which users will no longer be able to view, send, or swap Sui assets inside the app.

Phantom is cutting Sui from its network roster just 20 months after adding it, citing a joint agreement with the Sui team. The decision came through a joint agreement between Phantom and the Sui team, which makes it a mutual parting rather than a unilateral cut.

What Happens to User Funds

Phantom has been direct on the question of asset safety. Phantom has been clear that users retain full control over their private keys and assets throughout the transition, and the wallet will not be touching custody arrangements. The assets themselves remain on the Sui blockchain and are not affected by Phantom's decision to remove the integration.

Users have one month to move their Sui assets to other compatible wallets like Suiet or the official Sui Wallet, or swap them for assets Phantom still supports, with fee waivers on swaps before the deadline. Phantom is also rolling out in-app notifications and a step-by-step migration guide to walk affected users through the process. The wallet is also warning users to watch out for scams targeting people during the migration, a common tactic when wallet transitions are announced publicly.

A Broader Shift in Strategy

Phantom first announced Sui support in December 2024 and officially launched the integration on January 29, 2025. Sui became the first blockchain outside of Solana, Bitcoin, and Ethereum to be supported by the wallet. The partnership was widely seen as a vote of confidence in the Sui ecosystem.

The removal of Sui appears to be part of a deliberate recalibration rather than a one-off decision. Phantom dropped support for the Monad network on August 26, just two days after the Sui announcement, suggesting a deliberate thinning of the network roster rather than a one-off call. This move is part of Phantom's strategy to streamline its network offerings after previously expanding to multiple blockchains including Ethereum and Bitcoin.

For affected users, the priority is straightforward: migrate to a Sui-compatible wallet or swap assets before the September 24 deadline. Phantom has been clear that no action is required to keep funds safe, but waiting beyond the deadline will make in-app asset management on Sui impossible.
