Satoshi's Bitcoin Fortune Surges $12B As BTC Breaks $75,000
Satoshi Nakamoto's estimated Bitcoin holdings are now worth around $83 billion after BTC climbed above $75,000 for the first time since May, adding roughly $12 billion in three days. Ether also rallied more than 25% in a week.
Bitcoin's latest price surge has added billions to the already staggering paper fortune attributed to its pseudonymous creator. Satoshi Nakamoto's estimated holdings are now worth approximately $83 billion, after $BTC climbed above $75,000 on Friday, marking its first move above that level since May. The gain of more than $10,000 over just two days translated into a roughly $12 billion increase in the value of the dormant stash.
The Scale of Satoshi's Holdings
Satoshi is widely estimated to hold around 1.1 million $BTC, accumulated through early network mining between 2009 and 2010. Blockchain analysis traces those coins across roughly 22,000 addresses using what researchers call the Patoshi Pattern, a method that identifies blocks likely mined by a single entity in Bitcoin's earliest days. None of those coins have ever been spent in any meaningful capacity, making Satoshi the single largest known individual holder of Bitcoin by a wide margin.
The fortune fluctuates directly with Bitcoin's price. At Bitcoin's all-time high of around $126,000 in October 2025, Satoshi's estimated stash was valued at approximately $138 billion. The subsequent pullback in price eroded much of that gain, and the latest recovery toward $75,000 has begun rebuilding it. Despite the enormous paper wealth, mainstream rankings such as Forbes do not include Satoshi in their official billionaire lists, citing unverified identity and questions around custody.
Broader Market Rally Lifts Altcoins Too
The move in Bitcoin was not isolated. $ETH also pushed higher, with Ether reaching $2,380 after gaining more than 25% over the prior week. The broad-based rally suggests renewed risk appetite across the crypto market, with momentum building across both major assets.
Whether Satoshi's fortune holds at current levels will depend on how well Bitcoin sustains the $75,000 mark. The coins themselves, dormant since the early mining period, remain among the most closely watched addresses in the crypto market. Any movement would almost certainly trigger immediate market volatility, given the sheer volume involved.
