Sui Takes Another Step Toward Autonomous DEFI Agents
Sui Network integrates the Human Tech Wallet Protocol (WaaP) to give AI agents scoped wallet access, enabling autonomous DeFi activity through Cetus Protocol while users retain full control.
AI Agents Get Scoped Wallet Access on Sui
Sui Network is pushing further into autonomous on-chain operations with the integration of the Human Tech Wallet Protocol (WaaP). The setup allows AI agents to operate wallets directly, but within clearly defined limits, keeping ultimate control with the user.
The protocol, built by Human Tech and powered by the Ika Network, provides embedded wallets designed for both humans and their agents. Its architecture relies on Two-Party Computation (2PC), meaning no single party, including Human Tech itself, can unilaterally move funds. A user's key share stays local, while a decentralized network handles the co-signing share under zero-trust conditions.
As Ika Co-Founder Omer Sadika put it: "The hard part of agentic payments isn't speed, it's authority. Software acting on someone's behalf needs bounded permission, not an omnipotent private key."
Gas Abstraction and Liquidity Pool Access via Cetus
One of the more practical elements of the integration is gas abstraction. Agents can fund wallets with any token and transact across chains without needing to hold native fee tokens, removing a common friction point in automated DeFi workflows.
From there, agents can enter liquidity pools and pursue on-chain opportunities through Cetus Protocol, the leading decentralized exchange on Sui. Cetus uses a Concentrated Liquidity Market Maker (CLMM) model, which allows liquidity providers to allocate assets within specific price ranges for improved capital efficiency.
The WaaP CLI gives agents orchestration across EVM, Sui, and Solana, while developers can configure granular policies through the SDK, including custom webhooks for additional security. The result is a permissioned but automated agent layer, one that can act independently without exposing full wallet control.
For Sui, the integration marks another concrete step toward a network where software can execute DeFi strategies end-to-end, autonomously and within defined guardrails.
