UAE Selects Avalanche To Power National Digital Identity Infrastructure

Avalanche Enters UAE's National Identity Ecosystem

The United Arab Emirates has selected Avalanche ($AVAX) as the blockchain backbone for its national digital identity infrastructure, marking one of the most significant government-level blockchain deployments in the region to date. The integration brings together @tdrauae, the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, and Web3 firm Deca4 to embed $AVAX into UAE PASS, the country's unified national identity platform.

UAE PASS is the country's first secure national digital identity for citizens, residents, and visitors, enabling access to a wide range of online services across multiple sectors, including the ability to sign and verify documents digitally. The platform was developed and implemented in collaboration with Digital Dubai to provide a unified digital identity that enables secure access to government services, supports digital signatures, and underpins the legal recognition of digital transactions.

The Digital Vault: Blockchain-Secured Document Exchange

At the centre of the initiative is a new feature called the Digital Vault, a blockchain-powered environment that allows more than 12 million users in the UAE to store, access, and exchange verified documents with full security guarantees. By anchoring identity verification to the Avalanche network, the framework removes the need for paper-based processes and replaces them with automated, tamper-resistant record verification at a national scale.

The move aligns with a broader push by the UAE to lead on digital governance. The Digital Government Sector at TDRA serves as a key national pillar responsible for regulating and enabling the government digital transformation ecosystem in the UAE, including oversight of the digital identity ecosystem and enablement of secure data exchange among government entities.

Avalanche's technical architecture makes it a natural fit for high-stakes government workloads. The network uses a probabilistic consensus protocol called Snowman to finalize transactions in under one second. Its roadmap centres on a transition toward a network of customizable, interoperable sovereign blockchains, a design well suited to permissioned government infrastructure.

The UAE partnership adds to Avalanche's growing footprint in the Middle East and North Africa. Founders from the UAE, US, and Europe are already leveraging Avalanche to build solutions across infrastructure, capital markets, credit, payments, and energy. For Ava Labs, a national identity contract of this scale represents a meaningful validation of the chain's enterprise credentials.
