Regulated Digital Euros Enter the Workplace

@Zebec_HQ and @AllUnityStable have launched a pilot program that lets employers pay staff benefit allowances in $EURAU, a regulated euro stablecoin, via the Stellar network. The companies describe it as Europe's first employee-benefits program of its kind built on regulated digital currency.

Under the setup, the program combines regulated digital currency with enterprise-grade payroll infrastructure, allowing employees to receive benefits directly to digital wallets while accessing spending, savings, and payment options through the Zebec platform. German tax law is central to the proposition: benefit allowances paid to employees can be exempt from tax up to a set monthly limit, making stablecoin-denominated perks a practical option for employers. @Zebec_HQ has noted in its blog that the precise tax treatment depends on how each employer structures the program.

Instead of waiting for a monthly payroll run to clear, funds settle on Stellar in seconds rather than days. Zebec has built out a financial ecosystem that includes Mastercard-powered payment cards, allowing employees to spend digital euro earnings at merchant locations or convert them into local fiat currency through Stellar's global payout network.

What Is EURAU?

AllUnity is a joint venture between DWS, Galaxy and Flow Traders. EURAU is claimed to be the first euro-backed stablecoin issued under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR) and licensed as electronic money by Germany's BaFin. The launch followed the granting of an E-Money Institution (EMI) license to AllUnity by BaFin on 1 July 2025. Fully aligned with the MiCAR framework, EURAU is a regulated, 100% reserved euro stablecoin issued under a multi-bank full reserve model.

Alexander Höptner, CEO of AllUnity, said: "The next phase of stablecoin adoption will be driven by practical business applications. Employee benefits and payments are natural use cases for regulated digital currencies. Our pilot with Zebec demonstrates how EURAU can support real-world financial operations while meeting enterprise-grade standards of compliance, transparency, and reliability."

For now, @Zebec_HQ has not named the employers participating in the pilot and has not shared user numbers, leaving the scale of the program unclear.
