@coinbase has added another well-known name to its Coinbase Champions roster. The exchange confirmed that Ao Ying (@thankUcrypto), one of crypto's most prominent copy-trading figures, will compete in the live trading event scheduled for Singapore on October 8.

Ten Traders, $150,000 on the Line

Coinbase Champions is a live, in-person perpetual futures trading competition that will bring together ten traders with $150,000 at stake. The event will be held at a venue in Singapore and streamed in full on X, giving a global audience direct access to each participant's trading decisions in real time. Doors open at 7:30 pm local time, with the competition starting at 8:30 pm.

Ao Ying is the latest addition to a lineup that @coinbase has been announcing in stages. Ansem (@blknoiz06) was the first trader confirmed, with his name revealed the previous Friday. Other names, including Jez, Intern, and HDF, have also appeared on the event page, according to earlier reporting.

The competition is timed to coincide with Token2049 Singapore, one of the largest annual crypto conferences in Asia, giving Coinbase a high-profile platform to showcase both its trading products and the Coinbase Champions format.

Who Is Ao Ying?

Ao Ying's path to becoming one of crypto's most followed traders is well documented. He began his career as an internet product manager before entering Web3 around 2020, starting futures trading in 2021 with a modest amount of capital set aside from his monthly salary. Early results were mixed, with losses outpacing gains in the beginning.

His profile changed through copy trading. He built a following on OKX under the handle "all in crypto," and later topped Binance's copy-trading leaderboard, where his followers reportedly generated substantial returns. He has since ranked first on exchange copy-trading leaderboards three separate times and has claimed annual earnings exceeding $40 million, according to industry profiles of his career.

The esports-style format of Coinbase Champions is a deliberate move by @coinbase to engage active traders through content and live competition rather than purely through product features or promotional campaigns. For Ao Ying, competing on a Coinbase-hosted stage in front of a global audience marks a significant step beyond the Chinese-language crypto community where he first built his reputation.
