Franklin Templeton Brings Tokenized US Fund To Hong Kong
Franklin Templeton has partnered with HashKey Exchange to list its Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund on the HashKey Earn channel, opening access to professional investors across Asia.
Fund Goes Live on HashKey Earn Channel
Franklin Templeton has partnered with Hong Kong's HashKey Exchange to distribute its tokenized money market fund, further expanding the global asset manager's presence in Asia. The collaboration commenced with the launch of the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund (grBENJI) on the HashKey Exchange Earn Channel on August 24, 2026.
The product is designed to offer investors access to a tokenized fund that mainly invests in U.S. government money market instruments and U.S. dollar cash assets. The tokenized fund is only available to professional investors and is not open to the general public in Hong Kong.
The arrangement gives Franklin Templeton another distribution channel for its tokenized investment products in Asia while adding an established asset manager's money market product to HashKey's regulated investment platform. Chetan Karkhanis, Franklin Templeton's senior vice president of digital assets client engagement, said the listing gives the firm access to HashKey's digital banking, wealth management and institutional client base.
Broader Asia Expansion in Sight
The partnership comes as tokenized Treasury and money market funds have surged 1,500 percent to $15 billion over the past two years. Total RWA value reached $38.2 billion as of Aug. 23, up from $20.6 billion a year ago, according to RWA.xyz data.
The partners aim to deepen collaboration by moving beyond money market funds into other tokenized products over time, with Franklin Templeton planning to leverage HashKey's multi-jurisdictional platform covering Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Dubai, and Bermuda.
Franklin Templeton debuted Hong Kong's first tokenized money-market fund in November 2025, which was the first initiative under the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's Fintech 2030 plan. The firm has continued adding distribution and trading routes for its tokenized products during 2026, including adding BENJI to MoonPay in June, allowing institutional users to swap stablecoins including USDC and USDT for the tokenized money market product.
