Hashdex has added Hyperliquid ($HYPE) to its Nasdaq CME Crypto Index ETF (NASDAQ: NCIQ), effective September 1, 2026. The move increases NCIQ's holdings from eight to nine assets as part of its diversified, multi-asset structure.

How HYPE Qualified for Inclusion

HYPE's inclusion follows its addition to the Nasdaq CME Crypto Index (NCI) after satisfying the index's strict eligibility criteria, which include minimum thresholds for liquidity and market capitalization, support from qualified custodians, and compliance with the SEC's generic listing standards for crypto asset ETPs. The update followed the Nasdaq CME Crypto Index's scheduled quarterly rebalancing, confirmed by an official prospectus supplement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The NCI now holds Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, XRP, Hyperliquid, Stellar, Cardano, Chainlink, and Bitcoin Cash. NCIQ launched in February 2025 with two assets and expanded to eight through successive index reconstitutions.

Weightings and What It Means for Investors

Bitcoin commands the largest weight at 74.36%, followed by Ethereum at 11.88%. Hyperliquid entered the index with a 3.36% weighting, nearly matching Solana, which holds a 3.79% share. XRP holds 5.21%, making it the third-largest asset in the index.

The addition gives NCIQ investors exposure to Hyperliquid without requiring them to purchase HYPE separately. The shift is notable because it reflects the growing institutionalization of crypto beyond the largest tokens, as Hyperliquid has emerged as a major decentralized trading ecosystem.

Hashdex CIO Samir Kerbage pointed to the fund's design as key context. "When we launched NCIQ in February 2025 with two assets, the whole point was that the portfolio would expand," Kerbage said. He also pointed to Hyperliquid's decentralized trading system and recent regulatory developments, noting that the Hyperliquid ecosystem has become a more important part of both the crypto market and the wider financial market.

Hashdex manages approximately $1 billion in assets, as of August 24, 2026.
