Injective is squeezing another burn into September...
Injective is running a second Community BuyBack round in September, weeks after burning 25,200 INJ tokens. Holders commit INJ, earn ecosystem revenue, and all committed tokens are permanently removed from supply.
Back-to-Back Burns as @injective Schedules Another BuyBack Round
@injective is bringing back its Community BuyBack this Wednesday, just weeks after completing its September round. The program, which has run monthly since launching in November 2025, allows $INJ holders to commit tokens and receive a proportional cut of revenue generated across the Injective ecosystem. The Community BuyBack is a monthly on-chain event where participants commit INJ and receive a pro rata share of ecosystem revenue, with all committed INJ permanently burned and the total supply reduced as a result.
The September round successfully burned 25,200 INJ tokens, reducing supply as part of the protocol's recurring deflationary program. The token trades near $7.85, up roughly 25% over the past week, according to the source tweet.
A Deflationary Flywheel Tied Directly to Network Activity
The program launched following governance proposal IIP-617, which passed with 99.96% of votes in favor, establishing what Injective calls the $INJ Supply Squeeze, a broader deflationary framework connecting the monthly BuyBack burns with its existing burn auction mechanism.
The logic is straightforward: more activity on the Injective ecosystem generates more protocol revenue, which increases the BuyBack pool, which results in more $INJ being burned each round. Across four completed community rounds, a total of 178,338.03 INJ has been burned, with each round larger than the last and participants earning no less than 20% in any round to date.
Injective's tokenomics model links three mechanisms together: the completed burn auction, the recurring Community BuyBack, and the broader $INJ Supply Squeeze governance framework, bringing the all-time burn count to above 7 million $INJ.
When a round closes, participants receive their share of ecosystem revenue in USDT and other tokens, while all committed INJ is permanently burned on-chain. 100% of INJ is already in circulation, with no future unlocks, vesting schedules, or insider token releases, making each burn a permanent reduction in total supply.
