Ondo says the CLARITY Act's 49-50 Senate defeat does not change its plans
Ondo Finance says its tokenization roadmap is unchanged after the CLARITY Act failed a Senate cloture vote 49-50, pointing to existing SEC and CFTC authority and its regulated Oasis Pro infrastructure.
Senate Blocks CLARITY Act in 49-50 Cloture Vote
@Ondo Finance says its business plans are unchanged after the U.S. Senate failed to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. The chamber voted 49-50 on cloture, a result that fell short not only of the 60-vote threshold required to open formal floor debate but also of a simple majority. The outcome effectively halts comprehensive crypto market structure work in the Senate for 2026.
Republican leaders had released a revised version of the bill adding new ethics restrictions to address Democratic concerns about public officials profiting from crypto ventures, but those changes were not enough to resolve the remaining opposition. Democrats rejected the ethics section as one that "does not effectively apply to the president and first family," and any further change would have needed a fresh White House sign-off. Notably, the vote was not a rejection of the proposal to split crypto oversight between the SEC and CFTC.
Ondo Presses Ahead With Regulated Tokenization Strategy
In a statement following the vote, @Ondo said its product roadmap, partnerships, and global expansion will continue as planned. The firm argued that legislation would provide more durable regulatory certainty, but that progress can continue under existing law: the SEC and CFTC retain substantial authority to advance tokenization and digital asset markets, and Ondo said it will keep working constructively with both agencies.
That confidence rests on the regulated infrastructure Ondo built through its acquisition of Oasis Pro. Oasis Pro operates, through its subsidiaries, an SEC-registered and FINRA member broker-dealer and Alternative Trading System (ATS), and an SEC-registered Transfer Agent, providing compliant infrastructure to support issuing and trading tokenized securities in the United States. The acquisition gives Ondo Finance the most comprehensive set of SEC registrations to provide digital asset services in the United States.
Founded in 2019, Oasis Pro was among the first firms authorized to support digital securities settlement in both fiat and stablecoins such as USDC and DAI. Analysts predict the tokenized stocks market will exceed $18 trillion by 2033. Ondo's message after the Senate vote was direct: the future of finance will not hinge on a single vote.
