@Zcash is trading near $844, its highest level since early 2018, after surging roughly 65% in a week against the backdrop of a broad market rebound and fresh regulatory momentum around a potential spot ETF.

Fifth SEC Amendment Brings ETF Closer

On August 21, 2026, @Grayscale submitted Amendment No. 5 to its Form S-3 registration statement with the SEC, refining details for converting its longstanding Zcash Trust into a continuously offered ETF. The latest filing would rename the trust "The Zcash ETF" and set an annual sponsor fee of 2.5%. Shares are intended to trade on NYSE Arca under the symbol ZCSH.

Bank of New York Mellon would act as transfer agent and administrator, while Coinbase Custody Trust Company serves as custodian, with Coinbase, Inc. as prime broker. If approved, the fund would be the first US ETF to directly track $ZEC. The registration remains preliminary, and the SEC has neither approved nor disapproved the securities.

Shares are set to begin trading on or about August 25 under the ticker ZCSH, moving from the OTCQX marketplace, where the trust has traded since October 2021, onto NYSE Arca's primary listing venue.

DCG Stake and the Price Surge

The regulatory filing revealed that DCG International Investments Ltd., a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group, is in negotiations to contribute nearly 200,000 $ZEC units to the fund. A 200,000-ZEC contribution could give DCG International about 34% of the enlarged fund under a June 30 snapshot.

$ZEC rose to about $820 on Saturday after briefly reaching nearly $850, its highest price since 2018 and a notable rebound since its sharp selloff in June triggered by developers' disclosure of a counterfeiting vulnerability. That June crash sent ZEC from around $630 to $250 after developers disclosed a flaw affecting the Orchard shielded pool, which was later patched through the NU6.2 network upgrade.

CoinGlass recorded $9.54 billion in 24-hour futures volume and $1.76 billion in open interest, indicating that derivatives made up much of the trading activity. The Grayscale Zcash Trust held more than $260 million in assets under management as of Friday.
